Welcome to Top Choice Driving School, a professional driving education provider committed to delivering high-quality training for new and experienced drivers. By enrolling in our services, including Beginner Driver Education (BDE) courses, private driving lessons, and road test vehicle rentals, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms are established to ensure transparency and a clear understanding between the school, instructors, and students.

Beginner Driver Education (BDE) Course Overview Policy

The MINISTRY APPROVED BEGINNER DRIVER EDUCATION (BDE) course consists of 20 hours of online coursework, 10 hours of homelinks (online homework), and 10 hours of in-car driving training. It is mandatory to complete the BDE course within a year from the start date to qualify for the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) certification.

In-Vehicle Instructions Policy

1. In-vehicle instructions commence after full course payment has been received unless an agreement has already been made with Top Choice Driving School.
2. It is mandatory for the student to have their driver’s license with them at all times during in-car training. A picture of the license on a phone or a photocopy will not be considered acceptable. If a student does not have a valid Driver’s License on the day of the scheduled lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and a fee of $45 will be charged for the missed session.
3. A fee of $45 will be charged for any scheduled lesson that is cancelled without at least 12-hours’ notice. A fee for No-Show/Rescheduling/Cancellation needs to be paid prior to the next scheduled lesson. Failure to do so will result in the inability to schedule any future lessons.
4. During the training sessions, the driver undergoing training follows Ontario’s road rules and laws and refrains from being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Failure to comply with these guidelines, the scheduled lesson will be cancelled by the driving instructor, and a fee of $45 will be charged for the missed session.
5. The scheduled lesson time starts immediately after the driving instructor informs the student of his/her arrival at the pick-up location.
6. The driving instructor will only provide 1-on-1 training, which implies that the student cannot bring their family members, relatives, friends, or pets along during the training session/s.
7. In the event of an unforeseen breakdown of the driving instructor’s car, rest assured that the scheduled driving lesson for that day will be promptly rescheduled to the next available date and time.

ROAD TEST

1. Top Choice Driving School offers road test booking service for students only if the selected package is purchased and also the road test booking fee is fully paid.
2. In the event of any changes to the road test date, time and location, student is responsible for notifying their driving instructor at least 48-hours prior to the scheduled road test. Failure to do so will result in a charge equal to half of the road test day cost. However, the remaining half of the amount will be credited towards their next road test day but will not be refunded.
3. Only applicable if the driving instructor has picked up the student on the road test day and arrived at the DriveTest Centre, and the DriveTest Centre subsequently cancels the road test due to inclement weather, traffic, etc. In such cases, a charge of $45 per hour will be incurred for travel and training time.
4. If a student does not pass their road test and wishes to rebook with the instructor for another attempt, full payment of the desired road test package will be required.

COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATION

1. Top Choice Driving School will process certification under MTO and does not issue a physical certificate to graduates upon completion of the BDE course. However, for insurance purposes, graduates can obtain a Driver’s Licence History document from their local Service Ontario location or by going to the Service Ontario website(by clicking here: Driver’s Licence History), which will indicate that the student has graduated from Beginner Driver Education course. *Please contact us to confirm certification status before placing an order or visiting Service Ontario*.
2. On successful completion of the BDE course, the student will be eligible for the G2 Road Test after eight months from the G1 issue date. Additionally, the student may be eligible for a potential discount on their automobile insurance.
3. Top Choice Driving School has the authority to release students’ information to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), and the auditor appointed by MTO.

PAYMENTS

1. Once the online course or in-car training session has commenced, no refunds will be issued for any payments received.
2. If the method of payment is through cheque. Kindly make sure the cheque/s are valid and have enough funds in the account. If cheque/s is UNPAID for any reason, a $25 penalty per cheque will be charged on top of the remaining due payment/s.
3. Any payment/s made through cash, cheque, or e-transfer are subject to a 13.00% HST(Harmonized Sales Tax).
4. To be certified under the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO), the payment/s for selected Beginner Driving Education courses must be fully settled within 12 months from the signup date. Failure to do so will result in the student not being certified under MTO.
